Howell subsequently established his own practice with his brother-in-law, Edward Jones (1830-1900), and W. Pryce Yearsley (died 1871). Later partners in the firm were C. Pryce Yearsley (fl. 1898-1907) and Howell's sons, William Mark Howell and Charles Edward Howell (1846-1906). Abraham was County Treasurer, JP and Mayor of Welshpool four times. Edward Jones served as town clerk for Welshpool and clerk of the Urban Sanitary Authority from 1866, while Charles Edward Howell was Mayor of Welshpool in 1894.
