CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: During the 19th century the railway system developed in Great Britain. British Rail which used to be British Railways was in charge of the British railway system, from the nationalisation of the British railway companies in 1948 until its privatisation between 1994 and 1997. The Mid Wales Railway line went from Llanidloes to Talyllyn. The line is closed now. In the late 19th century, Three Cocks Junction was partly owned by the Mid Wales Railway. In 1864, the Mid Wales Railway starts to operate Brecon. Rhayader and Erwood were on the route.

Scope and content/abstract: Deposited collections relating to British Rail, many relating to the Mid Wales Railway, Powys, 1812-1874, including acts and books of reference, 1812-1872.
