CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Gwynedd Archives consists of record offices in both Caernarfon and Dolgellau. In 1978 the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Urdd Gobaith Cymru was held in Llanelwedd. The Urdd Gobaith Cymru National Eisteddfod is acknowledged as the biggest youth festival. Among the numerous competitions there are drama performances. Llandrindod Wells Urban District Council (UDC), Radnorshire, was established under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1894. Llandrindod Wells UDC was abolished in 1974 following local government reorganization, with its functions assumed by Radnorshire District Council. Cardiff became the capital city of Wales on 21 December 1955. Between 1950 and 1951 the Llandrindod Wells Development Association published the Official guide: Llandrindod Wells, the Wye Valley health and Holiday Spa.
