Administrative/Biographical history: In 1915 the National Federation of Women's Institutes (NFWI) was founded in Britain. Llwydiarth Women's Institute was established in Llanfihangel-yng-Ngwynfa, Montgomeryshire. The Presbyterian Church of Wales (Eglwys Bresbyteraidd Cymru/Eglwys Methodistiaid Calfinaidd Cymru) had its origins in Wales in the 18th century. Ann Griffiths (1776-1805) of Dolwar Fach, Llanfihangel-yng-Ngwynfa, was a celebrated Methodist hymn writer.


Scope and content/abstract: Papers of Llwydiarth Women's Institute, 1905-1972, including minutes, account book and correspondence, [1925]-1964; rules, yearbooks, annual reports and other papers relating to Henaduriaeth Trefaldwyn Isaf ('Lower Montgomeryshire Presbytery') and individual churches of the Presbyterian Church of Wales in Montgomeryshire, 1937-1972; printed matter relating to Ann Griffiths, 1905, 1946, and the Powys Eisteddfod, 1955-1972.
