Administrative/Biographical history: In 1765 Ann Williams, heiress to the Ystumcolwyn estate, Meifod, Montgomeryshire, and the Meillionydd estate, Caernarfonshire, married Robert Howell Vaughan (1723-1792), brother of Hugh Vaughan (d. 1783) of Nannau. When Robert (made a baronet in 1791) succeeded his brother the family came to own the estates of Nannau, Hengwrt, Ystumcolwyn and Meilionydd. These were inherited by his son Sir Robert Williames Vaughan (1768-1843). The Ystumcolwyn estate comprised lands in Meifod, Llansanffraid, Llanfechain and Guilsfield, Montgomeryshire. The Price family lived at Keel (or Cil), Meifod, and owned property in Montgomeryshire, Denbighshire and Shropshire. Elizabeth Price (1735-1812) of Keel married Richard Davies (1725-1805).


Scope and content/abstract: Deeds and documents, 1674-1854, relating to properties in Darowen, Guilsfield, Llanfechain, Llanfyllin, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain, Llanwddyn, Meifod, Penegoes and Pennant, Montgomeryshire, Llantysilio-yn-Ial and Llansanffraid Glynceiriog, Denbighshire, and Llanymynech, Oswestry, Shrewsbury St Alkmond and Shrewsbury St Mary, Shropshire, and the Meillionydd estate, Caernarfonshire.
