CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history: Aberconwy Borough Council was formed in 1974 as the local authority controlling the major public services in the area covered by Conway Borough Council, Betws-Y-Coed Urban District Council, Llanfairfechan Urban District Council, Llanrwst Urban District Council, Penmaenmawr Urban District Council, and also parts of the Aled Rural District, the Hiraethog Rural District and the Nant Conwy Rural District and their predecessors; Gwynedd County Council was responsible for strategic planning, transportation and other services. In 1996, unitary authorities were created, and Conwy County Borough Council replaced Aberconwy BC and Gwynedd CC (which was replaced by a smaller authority of the same name).

Scope and content/abstract: Local government records relating to Aberconwy Borough Council, 1974-1996, including minute books, 1974-1996; summons and agendas, 1974-1996; annual budget records, 1977-1996; and statements of accounts, 1974-1987; and burial records from Aberconwy and from predecessor Urban District Councils and Rural District Councils Conwy, Llandudno, Llanfairfechan, Llangwstennin, Llanrhos (Lawn Cemetery), Llanrwst and Penmaenmawr, Caernarfonshire and Denbighshire, burial records, 1903-1994.
