Administrative/Biographical history: John Jones, Llanrwst (1786-1865), Denbighshire, was the grandson of Dafydd Jones of Trefriw, Denbighshire. He was a collector of manuscripts, publisher and printer; he was also a poet. He married Jane Evans in 1824. Between 1820 and 1830, he travelled to Dublin. He bought a printing press from Lewis Morus of Anglesey, and set it up in Llanrwst. His family ran a printing business in the Vale of Conwy from 1776 to 1935. His press published works in Welsh, including translations from English.


Scope and content/abstract: Collection of printed books published by John Jones, Llanrwst, [c. 1820]-[1860], including 'Hanes Richard Turpin'; 'Robinson Crusoe'; 'A New English and Welsh Dictionary'; 'Tri Aderyn' by Morgan Llwyd; and 'Angeu' by Thomas Edwards (Twm o'r Nant).
