Administrative/Biographical history: The records relate to Llanrwst Urban District Council, Denbighshire, which was in existence by 1897. Urban District Councils were administered by committees and by appointed officers including a clerk, treasurer, medical officer of health, surveyor and sanitary inspector. UDCs took over responsibility for local sanitation from the local sanitary authorities and their responsibilities included sanitary services, sewerage, refuse collection, housing, streets, cemeteries, libraries, parks, controls on buildings such as petrol stations, and licensing of public entertainments. In 1974 it became part of Aberconway Borough Council.
